E32 in new york can showcase sets of 3 minute clips to run for many to see on the street. There is a regular gallery presentation/opening too for the video works. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: hi list, first of all congratulations to paula and the other participants for carrying out the performance in bogota last friday! all the feedback i heard was quite positive. now a few points: 1) VIDEO DOCUMENTATION - regarding the request for videos (chris' gallery display and other...) the only existing ones are the two videos by the brussels team, from 3rd may and 7.7.7, both available on the website as well as on aether9.blip.tv - chris, do you need this immediately or in a few days? it should be possible to make a nice 3-minute montage of all the fragments, screencaputres, etc. boris if i understood well proposed to do an edit of the three frames of the bogota performance, for this i uploaded the geneva frame to http://1904.cc/~aether/archive/ and it would be great to have any recording from bogota too. even more useful could be a general presentation video of the project, with extracts of the various performances, and i imagine it could be nice to have statements/explanations by different people from our group... it could be fun and not too complicated to record a few skype/ichat/gizmo video-interviews of each other.. and make of this a ca. 5 minute montage. what do you think? 2) PERFORMANCE in general: - i quite like the "15-minute" format of the last performance, i think it makes things more intensive than longer durations, and also probably it's easyer for viewers to watch, even if they don't "get" everything. - from what i heard, chlo? and laure in brussels are writing a new script, taking in account comments and criticisms regarding the last one (interaction etc.). 3) SOUND problems - it wasn't possible during the last performance for everybody to get the audio stream, very likely because there were too many connections to the streaming server (that's what VLC told me...). we should investigate this and see what can be done. until now we relied on giss.tv's server network, and we don't know what are their limitations. it has to be said that the last two performance announcements where sent to the n3krozoft mailing-list which counts some 6000 emails.. so even if only a few % connect, it's already quite a crowd... 4) COMMUNICATION during performance - some people suggested we should use IRC for the communication during performance instead of skype, and they are probably right.. but some built-in features of skype are very useful (such as sound events for incoming messages), so it's not easy to switch, specially in the middle of the action. but i just checked with the OSX irc client Colloquy, it's possible to activate those features.... so I suggest we make a sort of training session, a meeting in IRC on our beloved #aether channel on the irc.freenode.net server... for more indications, see http://1904.cc/timeline/tiki-index.php?page=IRC+software 5) NEXT events - nothing confirmed for the moment, but the videomedeja festival in novi sad is considering our proposal, so we'll see (their festival is 14-16th december).. 6) MAX patch updates - the patch is constantly subject to updates, so the newest version is 118v4, available here http://1904.cc/~aether/kode/max_image_upload/ best, manu > > >Do we have any other aether/etc. group videos that can be displayed >on the sidewalk/storefront window display of a gallery? This is great news about having a budget. My reading material on the road was all about Tesla. My interest was rekindled as we keep drawing him into scripts. The book which elaborates on his 'mind wiring' is "Tesla- Man Out of Time" by Margaret Cheney, Dorset Press NY 1989. His mannerisms are usually framed in Freudian terms, but (and I have never heard of anyone else looking at it this way) I think he may have been a person with Aspergers. This syndrome was identified, in 1944, by Hans Asperger, a Viennese pediatrician and it is unlikely that Tesla would have himself been aware of it even as he describes his visions etc in his autobio. Aspergers is not a disease but rather a supra-functional (if that is the word) sort of autism that often comes with genius. I will write more on this, add a document /other cases and put it up on the wiki. I am not sure how but this may impact/modernise the content of the story we develop.
